CWM & WAUNLWYD EVENTS COMMITTEE.

The events group was formed in 2009 after the previous very successful group closed; it was formed by number of local residents to provide Christmas Lights in the village

The name was chosen to include Waunlwyd, so that both communities could benefit at Christmas time.

During the first year Christmas lights were erected and a Father Christmas parade was held.

2010

This year saw a number of fund raising events held within Cwm these were a ‘Mile of Coppers’, Pantomime and a Father Christmas Parade through the village. Unfortunately it was not able to erect any lights.

2011

The Year saw the ‘Mile of coppers held once again, with the re-launch of the Carnival with the Alpine Run and Tug of war, this was achieved with funding from WCVA. The Christmas Motifs were re-roped and new spans of lights were purchased these were erected in the main street for Christmas, a tree was erected and lit in the British Legion area, with thanks to Chippy Woods for his kind assistance also the library for their help with the power supply. The Father Christmas parade was a success again.

During the year a Bonus ball Lottery has been run which has contributed to the funds.

2012

This year we will see the ‘mile of coppers’ held in June, the Carnival in August and the Christmas lights will be extended further down Marine Street, the ‘Seasons Greetings from Cwm’ sign will be on display in Marine Street, a tree will be on display again and the Father Christmas Parade plus it is hoped that Father Christmas will be available at the Band Hut for anyone who wishes to speak to him.

It is hoped that during this year that the name of the group will be changed in line with its intention to provide lights for Cwm, it will be called the Cwm Events Committee.
